I think I have never realized how lovely the young ladies were with whom we grew up.  I did not know Rose after we left school, but I remember her vividly from school. She was smart, pretty, full of life and always had a smile. I have tried hard but cannot remember a bad thing about Rose.  I only tried hard because I wanted to be balanced in my thoughts of her, but she was a delightful person. As I looked at her picture, I had a sense of personal loss that we cannot know her now.  I know her family stills missing her and I do too.

In an article published in 2000, as we approached our 40th reunion, I wrote:

"As I read the 1958 Chinquapin, I found a note from Rose which said, "Dear Larry, We had some crazy times in Algebra I, haven't we?  Boy!  I really have enjoyed knowing you and you will go far in your lifetime.  Always remember me as a friend.  Always..."  I wish I could tell Rose that I do remember her as a friend and I suspect every member of our class does, also. Rose was a lovely young women in high school. I think I never remember her without a smile. She was smart and always an excellent student."
