Francis Custis (Gilcrease) was certainly a pillow of the community.   She worked in the personell and human resources department of a large industrial company for which I was a vendor.  I worked with her a couple times a week from 1977 until her retirement.

She was remarkable having gone into remission twice during her bouts with cancer.  The last time it spread over her body an she just wasn't able to fight it any more.

Before and after her retirement she served as a lobbiest for the American Cancer Society at both the State and Federal Government.  She made several trips to Washington lobbing congress as well as going  to the White House.  She successfully lobbied the State of Louisians on tax bill on cigarettes for cancer research.

After graduating from Natchitoches High School she attended Northwestern for a couple semesters.  Then in the 1990's she went back to night school at Northwestern and received her associates degree.

So whether it was work, political, or personal her motto was evidently " git er done"

Her deeds live on.
